Red Cross Unit

PURPOSE OF PROGRAMME

Informing youth members and others the roles and responsibilities of the Red Cross and encourage them to contribute.

Awareness on the care of their own health and that of others.

OBJECTIVES

  • To protect health and life.
  • To serve the sick and suffering.
  • To promote of national and international friendship to develop the mental and moral capacities of the youth.

ACTIVITIES OF RED CROSS UNIT

  • Promotion of health and hygiene.
  • Service to the needy people.
  • Training of skill and competencies
  • Relief work during emergencies like flood, fire and other natural calamities.
  • National integration
  • Understanding and acceptance of civic responsibilities and acting accordingly with humanitarian concern, to fulfill the same.
  • Growth and development of, spirit of service and sense of duty with dedication and devotion in the minds of youth.
  • Foster better friendly relationship with all, without any discrimination.

PRINCIPLES OF THE PROGRAM

Red Cross society function with the one and only aim of serving people under distress without any consideration of caste, religion, language and nationality

  • Orient the learner towards primary health care.
  • Create health & Oral Health related awareness within the community.
  • Function as a first point of contact for any health & Oral Health issues within the community.
  • Act as a conduit between the population and relevant health & Oral Health care facility.
  • Generate and analyze related data for improving health & Oral Health outcomes and Evidence based clinical practices.

ACTIVITIES

Youth Red Cross Yenepoya Nursing College, Department of Nursing Foundation in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society DK conducted two days’ workshop on “First aid” on 17th and 18th May 2023 at Yendurance Zone, Yenepoya (deemed to be University) from 9.00am to 3.30pm. Total 155 delegates of 1st year BSc Nursing and GNM students attended the workshop.

 

Students of Yenepoya Nursing College were posted for internship duty from 24/04/2023 to 29/04/2023 in Wenlock district hospital. This Opportunity was given by Indian Red Cross Society, Youth Red Cross, Yenepoya nursing college, Yenepoya deemed to be University.
