Community Health Nursing
The Community Health Nursing Department focuses on providing high quality nursing education for development of core competencies for our graduates and post graduates to provide holistic and comprehensive health care services across the lifespan at institutional and community settings.
An array of teaching, learning and evaluation methods are employed to ensure learning, so as to prepare community oriented nurses who are aware of local health care services and problems in order to provide culture sensitive nursing care.
The focus is on assessment of individuals, families and communities, conduct screening for health problems, provide evidence based interventions and conduct follow up and referral services in collaboration with government health care functionaries.
The department conducts numerous extension activities in collaboration with Local Government and Non Governmental Agencies using service learning approach and focuses on behaviour change communication towards promotion of health and prevention of diseases.
