Asset Created – Programme Stage for School
Special camp organized by the NSS Unit V, Yenepoya Nursing College from March 10–19th at Narlapadil, built a stage for Government Primary School Narlapadil, Talapady. The NSS valedictory ceremony commenced with a warm welcome to Panchayath President T Ismail and other dignitaries on 17th March at 11 AM. All the guests inaugurated the school stage built by the NSS volunteers.
Asset Created – Bus Stop
Special camp organized from June 24th to June 29th at Devipura Thalapadi adopted area. The main focus of the special camp was to build a bus stop. The dignitaries present during the inauguration appreciated the work of NSS volunteers and Programme Officer.

The NSS Unit V in collaboration with Community Health Nursing organized School Health Program on 30.11.2024 at DKZPHP School, Inoli, Mangaluru. NSS volunteers transformed the walls with murals such as Indian map, Karnataka State map, District map, and body parts including heart and digestive system.
Yuvajanothsava 2025
The NSS Unit V of Yenepoya Nursing College, in collaboration with the District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU), organized a 5-kilometer marathon on 10th October 2025 at Mangala Stadium, Mangaluru to create awareness about HIV infection and prevention of AIDS. The event was part of Yuvajanothsava 2025.
Deepavali Celebration at Orphanage
The NSS Unit V of the Nursing College organized a Dipavali celebration at Balasambrakshana Kendra, Kuthar, on 22nd October 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:30 PM. NSS volunteers and Mrs. Navya actively participated and performed dance programs that entertained the children.
Khadi Vastravinyas Competition
Department of Community Health Nursing Yenepoya Nursing College in collaboration with NSS Unit–V, Student Nurse Association, YNC and Karnataka State Khadi & Village Industries Board, Mangalore D.K organized Khadi Vastravinyas competition on 06/11/2023 at Yendurance Zone, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Deralakatte. Mrs. Nagajyothi V. Naik, District Khadi Officer D.K inaugurated the program and highlighted the importance of Khadi and motivated the staff and students to use Khadi clothes. Dr. Leena K.C, Dean, YNC was the presiding officer. Mrs. Nithyashree B.V, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Health Nursing welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Navya, NSS Programme Officer proposed the vote of thanks. Mrs. Vineesha, SNA Advisor compered the program. Inauguration was followed by Khadi Vastravinyas competition on the theme “Vocal to Local”. Seven teams from various colleges took part in the competition. Students of A.J Dental College were declared as winners and students of Yenepoya Physiotherapy College were the runners.
Radio Sarang
The NSS Unit V and Department of Community Health Nursing organized a radio program on the occasion of Khadi Mahotsav with the theme “Vocal to Local”. Faculty Mrs. Navya, Ms. Monisha and NSS volunteers (students) presented a song on the importance and values of Khadi in Radio Sarang run by Aloysius College, Mangaluru. The radio song presented in Kannada language was recorded on 30th October and broadcasted on 2nd November 2023 at 7.30 PM.
Observation of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2023
The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2023 was observed by the Department of Mental Health Nursing in collaboration with NSS Unit–V and the Centre for Substance Abuse and Prevention, Satellite Unit (CFSAP) of Yenepoya Nursing College at Dakshina Kannada Jilla Panchayat, Government Higher Primary School, Kalkatta. The objective of the event was to create awareness among school children regarding substance abuse, its ill-effects, management and preventive measures. Posters exhibition and pamphlet distribution were done followed by an awareness talk. Feedback from students showed a beneficial impact.
Breast Cancer Awareness Program
On October 30th, the NSS Unit V, YNC organized a Breast Cancer Awareness Program aimed at raising awareness about prevention, early detection, and support for those affected by breast cancer. Mrs. Navya, NSS Programme Officer, Yenepoya Nursing College, was the guest speaker. The program emphasized regular screening, self-examination, healthy lifestyle choices and available support resources. The event fostered meaningful learning and dialogue.
School Health Program – Nutrition Demonstration (Old Age Diet)
The Department of Community Health Nursing organized a nutrition demonstration programme at Kolya on old age diet plan on 01/04/2024 between 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The program aimed to impart knowledge on the benefits of old age diet. IV BSc Nursing students displayed a one-day menu plan according to RDA. Mrs. Navya, Assistant Professor, Yenepoya Nursing College supervised the programme.
Nutrition Demonstration Programme – Under Five Diet
The NSS Unit V in collaboration with the Department of Community Health Nursing organized a nutrition demonstration programme at KC Road, Thalapady on under-five diet plan on 23/05/2024 between 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. IV BSc Nursing students displayed a one-day menu plan according to RDA and explained the nutritional benefits. Mrs. Navya, Assistant Professor, Yenepoya Nursing College supervised the programme.
School Health Program – Inoli
The NSS Unit V in collaboration with Community Health Nursing organized a school health program on 30.11.2024 at DKZPHP School, Inoli, Mangaluru. Students performed health assessments, role play, wall painting and health education. A total of 85 school children benefited from the program.
School Health Program – Meenadi
The Department of Community Health Nursing in collaboration with NSS Unit V organized a school health program at Government Primary School, Meenadi, Mangaluru on 07/03/2024. Students conducted health assessment, role play on menstrual hygiene, handwashing demonstration, first aid education, and oral health examination. A total of 90 school children benefited.
School Health Program – Bagambila
The Department of Community Health Nursing in collaboration with NSS Unit V organized a school health program at Government Primary School, Bagambila, Deralakatte, Mangaluru on 02/04/2024. Students performed healthy school environment assessment, health assessment of school children and teachers, and provided education on personal hygiene & good habits. Students performed role play on substance abuse in adolescents and conducted in-service education on learning disabilities for teachers. The headmistress emphasized the nurse’s responsibility in various fields, and Ms. Madhusha compered the program. A total of 45 school children benefited from the program. School teachers and students gave positive feedback and appreciated the efforts of Yenepoya Nursing College students and faculty. Mrs. Navya, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Health Nursing, was the program in-charge.
NSS Annual Special Camp – Narlapadil
The NSS Annual Special Camp commenced at Government Primary School, Narlapadil, Talapady on 10/03/2024. The camp marked a commitment to education and community welfare. NSS volunteers conducted environment assessment on the first day.
Annual Special Camp – Devipura Temple, Narlapadil
The NSS Annual Special Camp at Devipura Temple, Narlapadil, Talapady commenced on 24/03/2024. This occasion marked the commitment of NSS volunteers to education, community welfare, and environmental service.
The valedictory program focused on the inauguration of the newly constructed bus stop. Dignitaries present included Mr. Vaibhav Shetty (Ramanagara Panchayath Member), Dr. Ashwini Shetty (NSS Programme Coordinator, Yenepoya Deemed to be University), Mr. Ganesh Bhat (Devipura Temple Clergy), and Mr. Shailesh (Devipura Panchayath Member). Dr. Ashwini Shetty shared her NSS camp experiences and appreciated the volunteers’ efforts. The Devipura Temple clergy and Mr. Vaibhav Shetty praised the students’ dedication and felicitated the NSS program officer and coordinator. Ms. Madhusha, NSS volunteer, welcomed the gathering, and Mrs. Navya, Program Officer, delivered the vote of thanks. The dignitaries officially inaugurated the bus stop built by the NSS volunteers.
Swachhata Hi Seva
Volunteers of NSS Unit V (Yenepoya Nursing College) organized a successful cleaning campaign at Mangalore Central Railway Station in alignment with the "Swachhata Hi Seva" initiative, promoting cleanliness and public hygiene. The campaign took place on 24th & 27th September 2024, starting with a pledge-taking ceremony on cleanliness, followed by a flash mob, mime, and rally emphasizing the importance of maintaining clean surroundings. NSS volunteers then actively participated in cleaning the railway and bus stand premises. The event was conducted in collaboration with railway officials and the Thokkottu Panchayath, and received appreciation for the volunteers' dedication.

Monsoon Awareness Program
The NSS Unit V organized a Monsoon Awareness Program on 30th June 2025 at Higher Primary School, Yadapadav, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The program aimed to educate students on common monsoon-related illnesses and their prevention. Mrs. Navya, Assistant Professor, Yenepoya Nursing College, delivered a session covering diseases such as dengue, malaria, typhoid, cholera, and viral fever, explaining their transmission through contaminated water, food, and mosquito bites. Emphasis was placed on personal hygiene, safe drinking water, and use of mosquito repellents. A live handwashing demonstration and distribution of informative leaflets reinforced the message.
District Level Marathon Competition
The NSS Unit V, in collaboration with the District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU), organized a 5-kilometer marathon on 10th October 2025 at Mangala Stadium, Mangaluru. The marathon aimed to raise awareness about HIV infection and AIDS prevention, targeting youth aged 17–25 years. Students carried placards and raised slogans emphasizing HIV prevention and safe practices. A total of 136 participants took part, contributing to youth engagement in social awareness as part of ‘Yuvajanothsava 2025’.
Menstrual Hygiene Day
The NSS Unit V organized an extension activity on 28th May 2025 at the Primary Health Centre, Kotekar, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM to commemorate Menstrual Hygiene Day. I Year M.Sc. Nursing students actively participated under the guidance of Mrs. Navya (NSS Programme Officer) and Mrs. Amitha (Assistant Professor, Community Health Nursing). The session included an informative health talk on menstrual hygiene, demonstrations of sanitary pads and menstrual cups, and the use of audio-visual aids to enhance understanding.
World Organ Donation Day – Poster Competition
On the occasion of World Organ Donation Day, a poster competition was held on 30th July 2025 at Yendurance, organized by NSS Unit V, Yenepoya Nursing College. Students from various colleges created vibrant posters promoting the importance of organ donation. Winners were selected by the District Health and Family Welfare Department, and awards were presented on 1st August at the World Organ Donation Awareness Day event.
Poshan Pakhwada Abhiyan
The NSS Unit V, in collaboration with the Department of Community Health Nursing, organized a school health program and Poshan Pakhwada Abhiyan at Higher Primary School, Chethan Nagara, Someshwara on 5th April 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM. II BSc Nursing students, along with faculty Mrs. Navya (NSS Programme Officer) and Mr. Anand (Assistant Professor), performed school environment and health assessments, educated students on personal hygiene, and conducted role plays on malnutrition and obesity using audio-visual aids. The program concluded with distribution of refreshments and a feedback and Q&A session.

The NSS Unit V organized a cooking competition at Yenepoya Nursing College on the occasion of Poshan Pakhwada Abhiyan on 6th April 2025, Monday from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM.
Debate Competition – Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel 150th Birth Anniversary
The NSS Unit V organized a debate competition on 31st October 2025 at Lecture Hall X, YNC, on the theme “Youth Leadership as a New Instrument of National Integration”. The event celebrated Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th Birth Anniversary, honoring his role in building a united nation. Students from various constituent colleges actively participated, presenting arguments on youth leadership, national unity, social harmony, and democratic values. Esteemed judges evaluated the participants on content, presentation skills, clarity, and rebuttal ability, and prizes were awarded to winners.
World Environment Day
The Department of Community Health Nursing, in collaboration with NSS Unit V and the Eco Club, organized World Environment Day on 15th June 2025 at Durga Parmeshwari Yuvaka Mandala, Devipura, Talapady from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Mr. Vinayaka Bhat (Environmental Engineer) and Mr. Vasanth (Horticulture Assistant) delivered an informative session on vermicomposting and sustainable waste management using audio-visual aids. NSS volunteers actively participated under the guidance of Mrs. Navya (Assistant Professor & NSS Programme Officer) and Mrs. Pavithra (Assistant Professor, Community Health Nursing).

Extension Activity – Nutritional Assessment & Awareness Program
The NSS Unit V organized an extension activity for anganwadi children and their parents on 22/12/2022 at Kudmul Rangarao Sabha Bhavana, Gandhinagar, Ullal, Mangaluru from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Activities included nutritional assessments of 24 children, nutritional counseling for parents, education on malnutrition prevention and management, and distribution of nutritional supplements like zinc syrup, roasted peanut chikki, and apples. The program was conducted under the guidance of Mrs. Navya (NSS Programme Officer), Dr. Madhavi Bhargava (Associate Professor, Community Medicine), and Ms. Sneha (JRF, Community Medicine). Financial support was provided by Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), and the session concluded with a vote of thanks.
Nutrition Demonstration Programme – Preschool Age Diet
NSS unit V in collaboration with department of Community Health Nursing Yenepoya Deemed to be Universityorganised a Nutrition Demonstration Programme on 04/ / 06 / 2022 at KumpalaAnganwadiregarding PRESCHOOL AGE DIET between 10 am to 12.30 pm with of 2ND YEAR PBBSCnursing students. The main objective of the programwas to acquaint the students to gain necessary skills in demonstrating nutritional education to the public, and through this impart knowledge to the mothers ofpreschool age children regarding the benefits of preschool age diet. We prepared one day menu plan according to the RDA. It was attendedby Mrs. Navya mam, 1 Anganwadi teacher and 1Anganwadi helper, 39 II year PBBSc nursing students and 20 publics ofKumpalacommunity.
At the end the preparation the foods are exhibit to the audience. Thequestion answer session helped the public to clear their doubt. Anthropometric measurement are also done.
The program was appreciated by all. All together it gave an enrich experience to the students to develop the skills towards imparting education with demonstration.
Red Ribbon Club – Inaugural & Orientation Program
Organized an inaugural and orientation program for the Red Ribbon Club on 28th February 2020 at the Indoor Auditorium, Yenepoya Nursing College. Dr. Badruddin, District AIDS Control Officer, D.K, Mangaluru, was the chief guest. Dr. Gangadhara Somayaji K.S, Registrar, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) presided over the function.
