Brief Report of the Event:
An extension activity was organized by the Department of Nursing Foundation in collaboration with the Equal Opportunity Cell, YNC, on 17-07-2025 at Riya Foundation, Kulshekar. The event commenced at 10:00 AM with a prayer song performed by first-year GNM students. An activity-based dance was performed by the students, demonstrating the need for personal hygiene practices in daily life. During the session, the participants were encouraged to perform specific actions and movements of handwashing and brushing techniques, making learning both fun and memorable. To further engage the residents, a series of interactive games were conducted, bringing enthusiasm and joy to the gathering. A health checkup was also held, offering services such as blood pressure and blood sugar monitoring to ensure the well-being of the residents. The event concluded at 12:30 p.m. and received positive responses from both the staff and residents. This program benefited 35 inmates and 15 staff members of Riya Foundation.
Outcome of the Event:
The event successfully raised health awareness among adults with special needs through interactive educational activities and hands-on demonstrations. The health screening contributed to the well-being of residents. This program served as an experiential learning exposure for the students to a varied population of adults with diverse intellectual and developmental disabilities.
